Inside Appeal
Setting the Stage
While it does take an attractive home exterior to draw in prospective buyers, it will be the condition and appeal of a home’s interior that will ultimately sway a buyer’s decision. Staging a home sets the scene to create instant buyer interest.
To be competitive, a house being shown should shine from top to bottom and be specifically set up to entice buyers, while maintaining livability. Any broken fixtures should be repaired as these will be more easily remembered than any positive attributes the prospective buyer detects.
Furnished homes sell better than those that are vacant, but a home cramped with too much furniture gives a cluttered feel often having an adverse influence. Placing less attractive or worn furniture in storage is helpful. Clutter detracts from living space and hides the authentic allure of a home. When trying to sell a home, the key is to aim for a simple, clean, uncluttered look.
